This book is a manifesto of focused observation. With around 300 overall and detailed views as well as extensive records, it is dedicated to the collaboration between artist friends Mark Dion and Daniel Maier-Reimer and their spatial installation “Travel Bureau” 2023 at Clages Gallery in Cologne. In the form of a travel agency overflowing with pictures, brochures and souvenirs, as one might remember from the last decades of the 20th century, Mark Dion presents four journeys by Daniel Maier-Reimer: “Lapland Autumn 1990”, “Kaliningrad Peninsula 2001”, “Tyrrhenian Sea to Adria 2013” and “Journey to Mount Etna 2022”. Texts by Jens Asthoff, David Brooks, Haris Giannouras, Birte Hinrichsen, Till Krause and Mirjam Thomann deepen this concentrated display of images, always accompanied by the question of how the world could be captured in pictures.
