The first monograph on the work of the Cologne photographer, who tests the limit of his chosen medium. Whereas we generally associate photography with the notion that one can push the shutter button and thus exposes the film faster than a normal person can even think, Bonfert confronts this velocity with cognition and the will to concentrate. His “Photosynthesis” is the result of a precise evaluation – as well as of a concept, which leads to an image that can only exist as just such an image.
