“When looking into a mirror, you yourself are in the picture. When looking at something framed behind a pane of glass, you are in it as well. Even when beyond the glass a view onto the world is revealed: the world as a model behind a display window, the world as a place of longing when looking out of the window, the world in sections through the lens of an analogue camera. The world is always observed from the perspective of loneliness and always from a distance. In photography, the distance is greatest in relation to the closeness to reality.
