“As is his habit, Klaus G. Gaida dealt with the situation and the existing substance of the building very carefully. He used his artistic means sparingly, for he knows: When it comes to designing a clerical space, success is to a great extent ultimately dependent upon whether and how the images and symbols of faith come together with the atmosphere of the space in a simple and thus uncircumventable manner. Only when the individual elements form a unity, in which faith and art, religious spirituality and artistic sensitivity do not compete with each other, but rather complement one another so that each comes into its own, will it be possible to create more than mere a decoration of faith and its rituals. For Gaida, it was obviously essential to deprive the things created by means of an artistic act of their artificiality, to never allow them to appear abstract, but rather, on the contrary, to ensure that there is no difference between religious content and artistic form. He was successful in achieving this precisely because he did not arrange any stylistically prefabricated forms. Instead, Gaida created elements for a concrete space, within the implicitness of which the primeval power of simple things merges together with their Christian symbolism.” (Thomas Wagner)
