Die Künstlerin Martina Jess hat sich in den letzten Jahren intensiv mit dem Phänomen Spiel auseinandergesetzt, das Aspekte wie Hierarchie, Strategie und System aber auch historische, philosophische, psychologische und emotionale Aspekte enthält. In dieser Zeit entstanden Schriftbilder, Plakatübermalungen, Rauminstallationen und eine Aktion. Das Buch dokumentiert die uncerschiedlichen Werkgruppen, u.a, auch das große Wandbild zu Pier Paolo Pasolinis „Salo oder die 100 Tage von Sodom" in dem Martina Jess ein Spiel um Sex, Macht und Tod sieht. Standbilder aus dem Video „Lucky/Unlucky" zeigen die Hände von Pokerspielern. Das Kartenspiel wird als monotone endlose Bewegung erfahrbar gemacht.
Artist Martina Jess has worked intensely on the game/play phenomenon over the past few years, homing on its aspects of hierarchy, strategy and system, as well as the historical, philosophical, psychological and emotional angles. In the course of that work, she has produced script pictures, overpainted posters, interior installations and an art action. The book is a documentary of the various groups of work, including the large mural piece on Pasolini's The120 Days of Sodom, in which Jess sees a game revolving around sex, power and death. Stills from the video, Lucky/Unlucky, show poker players' hands. The card game becomes palpable as a monotonous, unending motion.
